kitchen rules...

saw this at a friend's house tonight. thought i'd share. funny stuff...

1. do not cook if you're too lazy to wash afterwards -- no excuses allowed (e.g. running late, "mamaya na lang" strategy)

2. wash after using kitchen utensils, plates, etc. -- unless somone offers you a free wash :)

3. do not leave any big chunk of meat, vegetable or whatsoever in your plate/bow.

4. if you see the trash can full, be responsible enough to throw it in the garbage can -- it's just a few steps away

5. if you notice that the sink is dirty, clean it with a sponge just to take out the oil/smell.

6. do not leave the stove area drity. if there are spills, do not wait later -- clean it with 409!

7. wipe the countertop once in awhile with 409

8. if you see a lot of things in the dish dryer, be king enough to return the items to its place.

9. if you want to eat, don't forget to wash afterwards -- later is ok but not tomorrow! be more sensitive to other people.

10. extra cleaning is appreciated (e.g. mopping the floor, taking out extra dirt that you see and etc.)

life gets better by change

A coworker, emailed this to me earlier today.

"You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change."

environmentalist philippine senator richard "dick" gordon

On November 8, 2005, Senator Richard J. Gordon urged the government to utilize the petroleum oil tank farm and pipeline located inside the Subic Bay Freeport to jumpstart the use of ethanol as renewable source of energy.

"We need to bring in ethanol and promote its use as alternative fuel in our country which we have the capacity to produce locally from indigenous agricultural crops such as sugar cane, cassava, and corn under a sustainable system," Gordon said.

I found his blog regarding the article and posted a comment. I want to see if he comments back. It doesn't even seem like he or his admin checks the blog often, it's filled with spam.

here's my reply to the Senator.

senator, i admire how you're proactive in regards to helping optimize energy usage in the philippines.

the united states seems to have a hard time changing to ethanol, it seems like more and more people are interested in purchasing gas/electric hybrid cars than ethanol-powered cars.

the popular hybrid cars -- the toyota prius, honda insight and the honda civic hybrid -- are getting around 50 US mpg (4.7 L/100km). hopefully honda and toyota market these energy efficient cars successfully in the philippines, helping manila's grey haze.

it would probably be helpful if the top movie "love teams" would promote these cars.

i haven't been back since early 2001, so i'm not up to date with the auto industry's current marketing, but back in 2001, the main commercials were still the same -- alcohol, fast food chains, hair products and detergent; in that order.

the country needs to help promote health. health for the country and for the people in the country.

i do not remember commercials regarding the environment. if there were any, i forgot about them, probably because they were not entertaining.

what about educating the public about their health (thetruth.com) and their country's health?

since entertainment is such an influential factor in the philippines, possibly it can be used not just to win elections, but to increase awareness in improving the environmental needs and health care issues of the country.

i hope one day, we can walk around downtown manila and see the true color of the sky above.

usc trojans knocked out the ucla bruins, 66-19

ucla was slaughtered yesterday, 66-19. so i checked out some flickr entries of the game and i couldn't find much. people at the game probably passed out later that night and didn't get a chance to post them up.

one interesting flickr is the hibernating bruin bear. i guess they put the bear to sleep a couple of weeks prior to the game to make sure nobody has fun with it. boring.

packed powder, machine groomed & obstacles exist

that's going to be us this soon, once work slows down a bit. hopefully, we can get a nice big crew from work. we're going to watch ryan and gio race down the mountain. they made a bet during our lunch on friday. last one to reach the bottom of the mountain will be shaving his head. and, i don't care who wins, i just want to see one of them with a shaved head!
